Po-doe-etry

I would like to apologize ahead of time for the quality of my poetry.

The Unknown

We are lone seekers in this world

Searching for what will tell

Meanings lost and meanings found

All in the unknown

And what powers we pray to

We look towards the unknown

As we as seek the answers

To the mysteries where therein

And through the years I’ve lived

In my search for everything

I have found one truth

All is found in the unknown

The unknown is my constant enemy

And my constant friend

For whatever it is that troubles me

In the unknown, I seek its end.

Dancing.

The same old song and dance

I have danced for years

And while it has been some time

Since we have last met

I still remember all the steps

The back and forth

The to and fro

The rush, the slight scent of fear

Like an old friend

I haven’t seen in years

I grow excited as I wait

To see my dear friend again

The meet the rush of adrenaline again

I swear I’ll never forget the feeling

And the sweet satisfying joy

As we move our bodies against one another

I still remember all the steps

But every time is a new sensation

When I break another man’s nose

Cancer Poem.

This actually happend today in my Creative Writing class. With finals coming, we’re all doing “Portfolio” presentations which pretty much means we read to the class things we wrote for the class.

Anyway.

This girl comes up and tells us she has two things, one is a short story or something; this is usually the point where I stop paying attention due to the lack of skill possessed by my classmates. (There are one or two decent ones, but, it’s community college. So…) Anyways, the other piece she has is a poem she wrote for her mother who has cancer. Which is all very nice, except for the fact she prefaced her entire reading by saying she is crazy and doesn’t know what she writes half the time. (How am I to know she is being serious? Or not crazy?)

Anyway.

The first is as I expected it to be, incredible drab and lacking creativity. (See what I did there?)

Anyway.

She reads her poem, and I feel that it’s slightly mean of me to even say this, but, the poem was horrendous. I felt bad when I was hearing the poem because, the girl was actually crying and all I could think was about her poetry was lacking everywhere. (No proper rthyme, no meter, no unmeter.. I could go on.)

Anyway.

When she finishes, the clap errupts into applause. Which is nice, because, y’know, you can’t not applaud cancer. That would be rude. And the applause is much longer than anyone else in the class received. And I can’t help but to think that we weren’t really clapping for the girl and her ability as a writer, but for cancer.

Anyway…

Sitting here waiting for my buddy to some so that we can work out. The only problem is that I’m outside his house and his neighbors have no clue who I am. So when asked what’s in the gym bag I have with me, the best response is not, ”That’s for me to know and you to find out.” Though it makes a great conversation starter with this nice detective.

Wolverine.

Place holder for now.

Safe to say, the movie continually sucked out any and all excitement I had for it as it went on. Not to say it’s not a good movie, just not a good comic book adaptation.
